Rachel Schwartz appointed Co-Lead and Liaison Counsel in Hill’s Pet Nutrition MDL
On July 31, 2019, Chief Judge Julie A. Robinson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas appointed Stueve Siegel Hanson partner Rachel Schwartz as both Co-Lead Counsel and Liaison Counsel for all Plaintiffs in the multidistrict litigation currently pending against Defendants Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. and Colgate-Palmolive Company. In these roles, Rachel will represent plaintiffs from across the country who have alleged that multiple varieties of Hill's Prescription Diet and Science Diet canned dog food products contained dangerously high levels of Vitamin D, which can cause dogs to experience serious health issues and even death.
The full appointment order is available here.
Beginning in February 2019, lawsuits were filed across the country related to excess Vitamin D in Hill’s dog food products. These cases were consolidated and transferred to Judge Robinson by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation because Defendant Hill’s is headquartered in the District and key evidence and witnesses are likely to be located in Kansas.
Stueve Siegel Hanson is one of the largest plaintiffs’ firms based in the Midwest and the firm has a strong record of results in prosecuting consumer protection lawsuits while serving as lead or co-lead counsel in courts across the country.
