Abby McClellan Named "Up & Coming" by Missouri Lawyers Weekly

10.02.2019

Missouri Lawyers Weekly selected Abby McClellan among its “Up and Coming” Lawyers for 2019. Each year, the statewide legal publication selects attorneys who demonstrate “professional accomplishment, skill and leadership beyond their years as well as extraordinary commitment to their communities through volunteer service and leadership.”

The award focuses on lawyers who are 40 or younger or who are within their first ten years of practice. McClellan, and other recipients, will be honored at an awards luncheon October 1, 2019 at the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles. A full list of honorees is available here.

McClellan advocates for people who have been harmed by dangerous products – particularly dangerous drugs or medical devices. Among her current cases, she is representing individuals who took Risperdal, a drug designed to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and autism-related irritability, and experienced gynecomastia (the development of abnormal breast tissue) in litigation involving more than 10,000 plaintiffs.

She was also appointed by a federal judge to serve on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee of the Taxotere Products Liability Litigation, multidistrict litigation that consolidates lawsuits alleging that the breast cancer drug caused permanent hair loss. As a part of this committee, she helps oversee the complex management of the plaintiffs’ litigation, which involves breast cancer survivors from across the country.

Outside of her practice, McClellan runs the lawyer volunteer tutoring program at Operation Breakthrough, a facility which provides a safe educational environment for children in poverty. The program, which helps kids with reading and homework, reaches up to 100 kids each year.
