$8.2 Million Verdict for Sexual Assault Victim
After years of contested litigation, Stueve Siegel Hanson won a significant verdict on behalf of a sexual assault victim who sued her assailant for civil assault and battery.
On June 14, 2019, following a bench trial, a Jackson County, Missouri judge awarded the victim more than $8.2 million in damages that included $7.2 million in economic and non-economic damages for her “serious and permanent physical, emotional and personal injuries” and an additional $1 million in punitive damages given the defendant's "outrageous, intentional, willful, and malicious" behavior.
Stueve Siegel Hanson partners Steve Six and Austin Moore served as trial counsel in the case. The verdict was recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as one of the state’s top five judgments and bench awards in 2019.
