$25 Million In Settlements Reached in Antitrust Price Fixing Case
Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP, together with its co-lead counsel Heins, Mills and Olson P.L.C. reached a settlement agreement of $16 million, before deduction of Taiwan taxes, with the Tong Yang defendants in a nationwide antitrust class action regarding price fixing of aftermarket automotive sheet metal parts, such as fenders, hoods and floor panels. The case, brought on behalf of a class of direct purchasers in the United States, is pending in the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Fond du Lac Bumper Exchange Inc. v. Jui Li Enterprise Co. Ltd., et al., 2:09-cv-00852 (E.D. Wis.).
A second settlement was reached in May 2015 with Taiwanese auto parts maker Gordon Auto Body Parts Co. Ltd. The defendant has agreed to pay $9 million to direct purchasers of certain aftermarket auto parts. This brings the total settlements in this litigation to $25 million.
This litigation is the consolidation of several lawsuits and the claims of direct purchasers of the automotive sheet metal products in the United States. The Court appointed Stueve Siegel Hanson partner Jason Hartley co-lead Counsel in 2010.
