Stueve Siegel Hanson Named as 2023 Cybersecurity & Privacy Group of the Year by Law360
Law360 recently selected Stueve Siegel Hanson among its 2023 Cybersecurity and Privacy Groups of the Year. The publication’s Practice Groups of the Year awards recognize the law firms that notched the biggest victories or deals of the year, based on the size, complexity, and significance of the litigation.
This is the second year that Stueve Siegel Hanson has been honored in the category, having previously won in 2019 following the firm’s historic $1.5 billion class action settlement with Equifax.
Among other accomplishments, the privacy and data breach team’s significant achievements highlighted by Law360 in its profile of the firm included:
- Securing a $500 million settlement with T-Mobile in a nationwide class action resulting from its 2021 data breach exposing more than 76 million Americans’ personal information.
- Obtaining a $190 million settlement with Capital One after two years of hard-fought litigation and negotiations.
On the firm’s development of an industry-leading privacy and data breach practice, partner Norman Siegel is quoted telling the publication: “We’ve been in the cybersecurity and privacy area for over 10 years. It really started with the Target data breach litigation. And if you look at the number of multidistrict litigation cases centralized by the JPML, the cybersecurity data breach privacy field is – I would suspect – among the largest-growing fields in litigation.”
