Stueve Siegel Hanson Wins Back-to-Back Practice Group of the Year Awards
Law360 announced today that Stueve Siegel Hanson has been chosen as a winner for its Practice Groups of the Year award in the Cybersecurity & Privacy category. The awards profile practice groups “that worked on the biggest deals or achieved the biggest wins in the most important cases.” The group is led by Stueve Siegel Hanson partners Norman Siegel, Barrett Vahle and Austin Moore.
This marks the second year in a row the firm has been recognized by Law360 as Practice Group of the Year, having been honored in 2018 in the category of Food and Beverage following the firm’s historic $1.5 billion settlement with Syngenta. It is also the third award won from the publication’s 2019 series that honors the firm’s cybersecurity practice, including recognition of Norman Siegel and Austin Moore as MVPs of the Year and Rising Stars awards, respectively.
The firm’s data breach and privacy practice group’s significant achievements last year included:
- Securing final approval of a $1.5 billion settlement with Equifax in a nationwide class action resulting from its massive 2017 data breach;
- Obtaining a $3.25 million settlement in a class action by optometrists following a data breach at the national testing organization for new eye doctors; and
- Successfully achieving a reversal by the Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia of the trial court’s ruling dismissing a data breach class action against the Office of Personnel Management.
An industry leader in this emerging area of law, Stueve Siegel Hanson attorneys have prosecuted cases involving the largest data breaches in U.S. history, securing billions of dollars for affected consumers.
